Astilbe ‘Always’ 1Gal

Latin Name: Astilbe chinensis You and Me Always®

Common Name: You and Me Always Astilbe

Zones: 4-8

Height & Spread: 18-24 inches tall, spreading 15-18 inches wide

Descriptive Features: A Bloomin’ Easy® Chinese astilbe selected for stronger flowering than classic varieties and taller flower spikes that stand well above the foliage. Forms a dense, bushy, broadly upright, mounding clump of thick, dark green, ferny foliage. From early summer into midsummer, tall panicles of vibrant, bright pink to deep pink flowers on strong, upright stems keep blooming long after many older astilbes have finished, and deadheading encourages even more flower spikes, though it blooms without it. Like other Chinese astilbes, it is somewhat more tolerant of heat and dry spells than the Arendsii types, but still performs best in part shade in rich, evenly moist soil. Attracts butterflies and other pollinators, and the flower spikes work well as cut or dried flowers. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, with good disease resistance. Divide every 3-5 years to keep clumps vigorous. An excellent choice for shaded woodland borders, mixed borders, containers, and entryway plantings in part shade.
