Latin Name: Lavandula × intermedia 'Provence'
Common Name: Provence Lavender (Lavandin)
Zones: 5–9
Height & Spread: 2–3 feet tall, spreading 2–3 feet wide
Descriptive Features: A robust lavandin hybrid known as "Fat Lavender" for its exceptionally large, plump flower spikes — up to 3 inches long. Forms a tight, tidy mound of highly aromatic, silvery-gray foliage, considered among the most attractive of all lavender varieties. From early to late summer, abundant long spikes of fragrant, pale lavender-purple flowers rise on tall stems, prized for their especially strong, classic lavender fragrance often used in perfumery and aromatherapy. More tolerant of humid summers and damp winter soil than many English lavenders, making it a strong performer in less arid climates. Deer-resistant and drought-tolerant once established. Excellent for hedging, borders, dried arrangements, and Mediterranean-style plantings in full sun with well-drained, alkaline soil.
