Myrica Pensylvanica 3Gal

Myrica pensylvanica, commonly called bayberry, is dense-branching deciduous shrub native to eastern North America. Occurring on sand dunes, beach borders, tidal marshes, rocky slopes, swamp edges, bogs, and pine barrens. Leaves are leathery, glossy, grayish-green, and are aromatic when crushed. Attractive clusters of tiny, grayish-white fruits appear in late summer and usually persist through winter. Fruits are attractive to birds. 

Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, sandy or peaty, acidic soils, but is tolerant of a wide range of soils and growing conditions, including drought, high winds, salt spray (seashore or road salt), poor soils, and wet soils. Suitable for mass plantings, woodland gardens, shrub borders, screens or informal hedges, in wet or shady sites, and for erosion control.
