Descriptive Features: The smallest and most diminutive of the popular fountain grass cultivars, offering all the classic soft, arching texture and fluffy plumes of larger Pennisetum varieties scaled down to a petite, front-of-border size. Forms a tight, dense, mounding tuft of narrow green foliage. In mid to late summer, small, fuzzy, creamy-white to tan bottlebrush flower spikes rise just above the foliage, resembling little bunny tails bobbing in the breeze — the source of its charming common name — and persist as attractive seed heads into winter if left standing, providing food and shelter for birds. Foliage turns soft golden-tan tones in fall. Extremely low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established, adaptable to a wide range of soils. Deer-resistant, needing only a late-winter cutback before new growth resumes. Its diminutive scale makes it an excellent choice for small gardens, rock gardens, edging, mass plantings, or container use in full sun to light shade.
