Osmunda cinnamomea, commonly called cinnamon fern, is an herbaceous perennial fern native to eastern North America. Occurring in bogs, wet savanna, swamps, marshes, floodplains and other moist areas. It typically grows in clumps 2-3 feet tall, but with constant moisture can reach 6 feet in height. 

Easily grown in medium to wet soils in part shade to full shade. Prefers moist, rich, acidic soils but can adapt to poorer conditions. May go dormant with dry soil. Suitable for native, rain, and shade gardens. Grows well in woodlands and alongside ponds and streams with some shade. Fertile and sterile fronds emerge from base of plant and remain attractive throughout summer and autumn. Suitable for shade gardens, native gardens, rain gardens, pond and woodland areas, and in mass plantings.
