Latin Name: Hosta 'Halcyon'
Common Name: Halcyon Hosta
Zones: 3–9
Height & Spread: 14–16 inches tall, spreading 24–30 inches wide
Descriptive Features: A compact, elegant hosta prized for its smooth, richly colored blue-gray leaves that hold their intense blue tone exceptionally well throughout the season. Part of the acclaimed Tardiana Group, it forms a neat, symmetrical mound of lance-shaped to heart-shaped foliage with a slightly wavy edge. In mid to late summer, lavender-blue flowers rise on scapes above the foliage, adding a soft pop of color. Its smaller stature compared to many blue hostas makes it especially versatile for borders, edging, containers, and mixed shade plantings. Prefers part to full shade with moist, well-drained soil; the blue coloring is best preserved in cooler, shadier conditions with protection from hot afternoon sun.
