Latin Name: Gaura lindheimeri 'Rosyjane' (also sold as 'Rosy Jane', 'Harrosy')
Common Name: Rosy Jane Gaura / Beeblossom / Wandflower
Zones: 5–9 (some sources list to zone 10)
Height & Spread: 12–24 inches tall (to 24 inches with flowers), spreading 18–24 inches wide
Descriptive Features: A unique European selection of the native beeblossom, recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit and included on the RHS Plants for Pollinators list. Forms a well-branched, compact, low-mounding clump of ovate green foliage mottled with purple, taking on redder tones in cool autumn weather. Starting in late spring and continuing into fall, airy stalks bear an abundance of charming bicolor, butterfly-shaped flowers — white centers edged in a lovely pink picotee border — with as many as 20 or more blooms opening along each delicate stem. Its compact size and dense, low-branching habit (foliage stays full right to the ground) make it especially versatile for borders, edging, containers, and rock gardens, unlike taller gaura varieties. A deep taproot provides excellent drought tolerance once established, and the plant also handles heat and humidity with ease. Deer-resistant, low-maintenance, and virtually pest- and disease-free. An excellent choice for sunny borders, pollinator gardens, or mass plantings in full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil.
