Descriptive Features: An ultra-compact selection of coastal plain Joe Pye weed, offering the classic look of this beloved native at a dramatically reduced scale — a true dwarf compared to typical Joe Pye weeds that soar 4 feet or more. Forms a tidy, low mound of green, whorled foliage well suited to the front of the border, where larger Joe Pye weeds would be out of place. In summer, flattened clusters of soft mauve flowers top the compact foliage, drawing butterflies and other pollinators just as its larger relatives do. Tolerant of a wide range of soil types and moisture levels, from average garden soil to consistently moist conditions, and adaptable to both full sun and partial shade. Deer- and rabbit-resistant and low-maintenance. Its diminutive size makes it an excellent choice for small gardens, rock gardens, container plantings, or the front of mixed borders and rain gardens in full sun to part shade.
