Heliopsis Helianthoides 2Gal

Heliopsis helianthoides, commonly called ox-eye sunflower or ox-eye daisy, is an upright, clump-forming, sunflower-like perennial native to eastern and central North America. It typically grows 3-4' tall and features daisy-like flowers (2-3" diameter) with yellow-orange petals surrounding brownish-yellow center cones. Flowers bloom throughout summer atop stiff stems with ovate, toothed leaves (to 6" long). The blooms are attractive to butterflies and other insect pollinators, and the seeds are attractive to birds. 

Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerates drought but does best when regularly watered. Tolerates a wide range of soils, including poor, dry, and clayey. Tolerates some light shade, but plants are less vigorous and stems may need extra support in heavier shade. Flowers are valued for use in cut floral arrangements. Suitable for native pollinator gardens, mixed perennial beds, and borders.
