Penstemon Smallii 1Gal

Penstemon smallii, commonly called Blue Ridge Beardtongue, is a perennial native to mountainous areas of the southeast United States. Occurring in rocky outcrops, glades, barrens, bluffs, and rocky slopes. Purple stems bear rounded, purple-veined leaves up to 6". Pink to purple tubular flowers with purple-striped, white throats appear in early summer. 

Easily grown in average, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Avoid wet areas, as root rot can occur, especially in winter. Suitable for rock gardens or native pollinator gardens as a border plant or in small groups.
