Acer saccharum, commonly called Sugar maple, is a deciduous tree with a dense rounded crown native to eastern and central North America. Occurring in hardwood forests. Medium green leaves turn yellow orange in autumn, sometimes with considerable color variations. Sugar maples are one of the types of trees that gives New England its reputation for spectacular fall color. Produces maple syrup. 

Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers fertile, slightly acidic, moist soils in full sun. Generally intolerant of compacted, poorly drained soil, road salt, and urban pollution. Excellent specimen tree. Suitable for lawns, parks, and street locations where road salt, soil compaction and pollution will not be significant problems.
