Latin Name: Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Blue Jean Baby'
Common Name: Blue Jean Baby Russian Sage
Zones: 4–9
Height & Spread: 28–34 inches tall, spreading up to 36 inches wide
Descriptive Features: A vigorous, more compact Russian sage bred to resist the lodging (flopping) common in older varieties. Forms a bushy mound of fragrant, narrow gray-green leaves, sending up multiple spikes of lavender-blue flowers held in smoky purple calyxes. One of the earliest Perovskia to bloom, with color lasting from midsummer well into fall as the persistent calyxes extend visual interest after the flowers fade. Exceptionally cold hardy and well suited to hot, dry climates; deer-resistant and low-maintenance. A strong choice for borders, mixed containers, or mass plantings in full sun.
