Latin Name: Agastache 'Mango Tango' (Agastache aurantiaca hybrid)

Common Name: Mango Tango Anise Hyssop / Mexican Hyssop

Zones: 5–9

Height & Spread: 16–18 inches tall, spreading 14–16 inches wide

Descriptive Features: A compact, tidy hybrid selected specifically for its shorter, dense, rounded habit and vibrant flower color. Aromatic, green, mint-family foliage forms a bushy clump, topped from midsummer through fall by profuse spikes of tangerine-orange to light peach flowers accented by contrasting dusky rose calyxes, creating a lively tropical splash of color in the garden. A strong, long-lasting bloomer that attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees throughout its extended flowering season. Best in hot, dry, sunny climates with well-drained soil — will not tolerate heavy clay or consistently wet conditions, especially over winter, and can be susceptible to powdery mildew, leaf spot, rust, and crown or root rot without good air circulation and drainage. Officially listed as hardy to zone 6, though it has overwintered successfully in protected zone 5b trial gardens with some winter risk. Deer-resistant, drought-tolerant once established, and excellent for cutting or drying. Its neat, compact size and formal appearance make it an outstanding choice for border fronts, patio containers, and cottage-style plantings in full sun.
