Descriptive Features: A vigorous, well-branched hybrid giant hyssop from Walters Gardens, matching the strong performance and hardiness of predecessors like 'Rosie Posie' and 'Peachie Keen' while introducing a striking new indigo-blue flower color. Forms a dense, upright, clumping habit of pointed, fragrant, dark green leaves that stay attractive all season. From midsummer through early fall (starting earlier in southern zones), tall spikes of lightly fragrant, indigo-blue tubular flowers rise above the foliage, offering excellent cut and dried flower quality. A strong pollinator draw, attracting butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees in abundance. Requires excellent soil drainage — will perform poorly and may not survive winter in heavy, moisture-retentive clay soils — and tolerates heat and some dryness once established. Deadheading spent flowers promotes additional bloom. Deer-resistant and low-maintenance, though it can self-seed. Best sited in a protected location in colder zones, with foliage left in place over winter for extra protection.
