Descriptive Features: A compact, well-behaved dwarf selection of the classic maiden grass, offering the same graceful, arching form and showy plumes as full-sized Miscanthus varieties in a scale that fits easily into smaller landscapes. Forms a dense, rounded mound of narrow, fine-textured, silvery-green foliage with a distinct white midrib that gives the whole clump a cool, silvery cast through summer. In late summer to early fall, coppery-pink flower plumes rise just above the foliage, aging to a fluffy, silvery-white as they mature and persisting as attractive seed heads through much of winter, providing excellent multi-season interest as well as material for cut and dried arrangements. Foliage turns warm shades of orange, copper, and burgundy in fall before fading to tan for winter. Extremely low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established, adaptable to a range of soils. Deer-resistant and a good source of winter cover and seed for birds if left standing until early spring cutback. Its compact size makes it especially versatile as a specimen, mass planting, low screen, or border accent in full sun to light shade.
