Descriptive Features: Named the Perennial Plant Association's 2018 Perennial Plant of the Year, this compact ornamental onion forms a neat, glossy clump of strap-like, dark green foliage that holds its color and stays attractive all season, without the yellowing common to many alliums. In midsummer, round, two-inch clusters of rosy-purple flowers rise on sturdy stems just above the foliage, blooming for weeks and attracting a steady stream of bees and butterflies. Notably resistant to onion rust and other common allium diseases. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, drought-tolerant once established, and long-lived without spreading aggressively. An excellent choice for borders, edging, rock gardens, or mass plantings in full sun.
