Sporobolus Heterolepis 1Gal

Sporobolus heterolepsis, commonly called Prairie Dropseed, is a clumping, perennial grass native to central and eastern North America. Occurring in prairies, glades, open ground and along railroads. Fine-textured leaves curve gracefully outward forming large, round tufts. Delicate pink and brown-tinted flowers appear above the foliage in mid-summer. Turns tan-bronze color in fall. Seeds are attractive to birds. 

Grown easily in most types of well-drained soil in full sun. Tolerant of dry, rocky soils. Tolerates both drought and occasional periods of saturated soil. Works well to prevent erosion. Suitable for upper edges of rain gardens, perennial beds, mixed borders, meadows, rock gardens and roadside plantings.
