Lindera Benzoin 3Gal

Lindera benzoin, commonly called spicebush, is a deciduous shrub native to eastern North America. Occurring in woodlands, ravines, valleys and along streams. Features clusters of tiny, aromatic, greenish-yellow flowers which bloom along the branches before the foliage emerges. Flowers of female plants give way to bright red drupes which mature in fall and are attractive to birds. Light green leaves turn shades of yellow in fall. Leaves are aromatic when crushed.

Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in part shade. Suitable for shrub borders, shade or woodland gardens, native plant gardens, naturalized plantings, and moist areas along streams and ponds.
