Latin Name: Sedum kamtschaticum var. kamtschaticum 'Variegatum' (also classified as Phedimus kamtschaticus 'Variegatum')

Common Name: Variegated Russian Stonecrop / Orange Stonecrop

Zones: 3–9

Height & Spread: 4–8 inches tall, spreading 10–24 inches wide

Descriptive Features: Regarded as one of the finest variegated sedums, forming a low-growing, mat-forming, semi-evergreen groundcover of fleshy, spoon-shaped, deep green leaves delicately edged in creamy-white margins that blush pink at the tips and edges, especially in cooler temperatures. In summer, showy clusters of small, golden-yellow, star-shaped flowers cover the plant, with petals that age to a warm reddish-orange for extended color interest. Recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Less aggressive and more well-behaved than the straight species while remaining durable and fast-growing, and notably resistant to reverting back to solid green. Excellent for difficult sites such as slopes and rocky areas, tolerant of urban pollution and salt. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, drought-tolerant once established. A lovely choice for rock gardens, containers, between stepping stones, or as a groundcover in full sun to part shade.
