Descriptive Features: A distinctive, award-winning hosta (2014 American Hosta Growers Association Hosta of the Year) prized for its deeply cupped, nearly round blue-green leaves with heavy substance and a strong seersucker texture. The bowl-like cupping — reaching several inches deep — actually collects rainwater, giving the plant its charming "drinking gourd" name. A hybrid of Hosta 'Tokudama' and Hosta sieboldiana, it grows slowly into a tidy, sculptural mound and holds its blue color well even through hot summer months. Near-white flowers appear just above the foliage in midsummer, attracting hummingbirds. Notably slug-resistant thanks to its thick, tough leaves. An excellent specimen or collector's plant for shade gardens; prefers part to full shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil.
