Latin Name: Eupatorium dubium 'Baby Joe' (also classified as Eutrochium dubium 'Baby Joe')

Common Name: Baby Joe Dwarf Joe Pye Weed

Zones: 4–9

Height & Spread: 18–24 inches tall, spreading 18–24 inches wide

Descriptive Features: An even more compact sport of the popular 'Little Joe,' offering the beloved look of Joe Pye weed scaled down further still, making it especially well suited to smaller gardens and container plantings where full-sized species would overwhelm the space. Forms a tidy, upright, well-branched clump of dark green, whorled foliage on sturdy purple-tinged stems. From midsummer into early fall, rounded, domed clusters of soft mauve-purple flowers top the compact foliage, creating a long-lasting, fragrant display that draws bees, butterflies, and other pollinators in abundance. Tolerant of a range of soil types and moisture levels, from consistently moist, rich soil to more average garden conditions, though it performs best without prolonged drought. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, low-maintenance, and needs no staking thanks to its sturdy, compact habit. An excellent choice for small gardens, rain gardens, mixed borders, containers, or pollinator plantings in full sun to part shade.
