Latin Name: Echinacea × hybrida Double Scoop™ 'Strawberry Deluxe' ('Balscawbux')
Common Name: Double Scoop Strawberry Deluxe Coneflower
Zones: 4–9
Height & Spread: 22–24 inches tall, spreading 18–20 inches wide
Descriptive Features: A striking double-flowered coneflower from the Double Scoop™ series, prized for its saturated, sizzling strawberry-red pompom blooms that hold their vivid color throughout the season without bleaching out — a common issue for many other coneflowers in intense summer sun. A near-black eye appears just as the fully double flowers begin to open, adding depth and contrast. Superior branching gives the plant an especially high flower count on sturdy, well-branched stems that require no staking. Blooms prolifically from late spring or early summer through early fall, right around the same time as the popular single-flowered Sombrero® series, making them excellent color-coordinated companions. Highly attractive to bees, birds, and butterflies, with seed heads offering additional interest and food for wildlife into winter if left standing. Fragrant and excellent for cut or dried flower use. Adaptable to average to fertile, well-drained soil, including clay, and highly drought-tolerant once established. Deer-resistant and low-maintenance. Its compact, upright habit makes it well suited for borders, mass plantings, mixed containers as a "thriller," or specimen use in full sun to part shade.
