Hosta ‘Aureomarginata’ 2Gal

Latin Name: Hosta fortunei ‘Aureomarginata’ (also known as ‘Gold Crown’)

Common Name: Gold-Edged Plantain Lily / Aureomarginata Hosta

Zones: 3-9

Height & Spread: 12-24 inches tall, spreading 18-30 inches wide

Descriptive Features: A dependable, long-standing classic hosta forming a dense, tidy mound of heart-shaped to lance-like, deep green leaves edged in a bold, irregular band of golden-yellow. The slightly glossy foliage holds strong garden presence and pairs well with darker-leaved companions. In mid to late summer, racemes of bell to funnel-shaped lavender flowers rise on tall scapes well above the foliage, attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. Quite sun-tolerant with adequate moisture compared to many hostas, and a recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. Versatile as a groundcover, border plant, container specimen, or underplanting for shrubs; performs best in light, dappled shade to full shade with rich, moist, well-drained soil.
