Veronicastrum virginicum, commonly called Culver's root, is a large, erect, perennial native to eastern and central North America. Occurring in prairies, woods and stream banks. Dense, slender spikes of tiny, tube-like white to pale blue flowers bloom from late spring through summer atop strong, upright stems. Attracts bees and butterflies.
Easily grown in average, medium to wet, well-drained soil in full sun. Can tolerate light shade but may need staking. Suitable for mixed perennial beds, borders and native plant gardens.
