Latin Name: Sedum rupestre SunSparkler® 'Wildfire'
Common Name: Wildfire Stonecrop
Zones: 4–9
Height & Spread: 4–6 inches tall, spreading 16–18 inches wide
Descriptive Features: A brilliantly color-saturated groundcover selected for its dazzling flower and foliage hues, forming a solid, spreading mat of fleshy, oval leaves that glow burgundy-red edged in hot pink, with an occasional spark of green showing through — coloring that intensifies with more sun exposure. In late summer, clusters of large, starry, rose to cherry-pink flowers ignite the plant just as many other garden plants are winding down, blooming into fall. Dried flower heads remain attractive through winter if left standing. Extremely drought-tolerant once established, virtually maintenance-free, and untroubled by deer or rabbits, though attractive to butterflies. Fast-spreading and adaptable to most soils and climates. An excellent choice for rock gardens, containers, mass plantings, or as a colorful filler and spiller in sunny spots.
