Descriptive Features: A pink-flowered sport discovered from a white-flowering seedling by Baldassare Mineo of Siskiyou Rare Plant Nursery in Oregon, prized for the graceful, airy movement it brings to a planting. Forms an upright, clump-forming perennial of narrow, lance-shaped, bronzy-green leaves occasionally mottled with maroon. On rigid, wiry, wand-like stems, four-petaled, butterfly-shaped flowers emerge rose-pink from deep maroon buds, opening just a few at a time along long, open panicles for an exceptionally long bloom season, from late spring clear into fall. Deadheading (or an occasional shearing) keeps the plant tidy and encourages continued bloom. A deep taproot makes it highly drought-tolerant once established and well suited to hot, dry sites, though it may become leggy and flop in overly rich, fertile soil — lean, well-drained conditions keep it compact. Deer-resistant and a strong draw for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Best cut back to a basal rosette after flowering to improve winter survival, and needs sharp drainage to overwinter reliably. An excellent choice for xeriscaping, gravel gardens, rock gardens, cottage borders, or containers in full sun to light shade.
