Latin Name: Perovskia atriplicifolia 'Little Spire'

Common Name: Little Spire Russian Sage

Zones: 4–9

Height & Spread: 18–24 inches tall, spreading 18–24 inches wide (some sources report up to 3 feet)

Descriptive Features: A compact, PHS Gold Medal-winning cultivar bred by Dutch breeder Herbert Oudshoorn, valued for its sturdy, upright habit that resists flopping better than the species. Finely dissected, aromatic gray-green leaves cover rigid, square stems, topped from midsummer into fall by tiered panicles of violet-blue tubular flowers. Excellent drought tolerance and the same silvery texture as full-sized Russian sage, but in a more manageable scale suited to smaller gardens and the middle of borders. Deer-resistant and low-maintenance; performs best in full sun with well-drained soil.
