Latin Name: Hosta 'Sagae'
Common Name: Sagae Hosta
Zones: 3–9
Height & Spread: 26–30 inches tall, spreading 48–60 inches wide
Descriptive Features: An elegant, vase-shaped hosta featuring large, wavy-margined leaves in a rich blue-green center accented by a wide, irregular creamy-gold border that brightens as the season progresses. The thick, glossy foliage has a slightly upright, arching habit that gives the plant a graceful, fountain-like form rather than a flat mound. In late summer, pale lavender flowers rise on tall, sturdy scapes well above the foliage. Named Hosta of the Year in 2000 by the American Hosta Growers Association and a recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, 'Sagae' is prized for its refined form and dependable variegation. An excellent specimen or accent plant for shade gardens and mixed borders; performs best in part to full shade with moist, well-drained soil.
